A little over a year ago, I gave a Scoutmaster Minute where we reimagined cartoon movies with Scout themes. Tonight, we will look at live action movies that we could reboot with a Scouting flavor. Here are our top ten:
10. Wonder Woman: The new Scout has a lot of questions, to which everyone kindly responds to her with, 'ask your patrol leader.'
9. Fast and Furious: It seemed like a good idea to have tacos and fried Oreos on the menu, but something about how the frying oil was not hot enough sends the patrol leader running for the latrine.
8. Ant Man and Wasp: The patrol finds unwanted guests under the dining canopy after everyone ignores the spilled fruit punch on the table.
7. Black Widow: Nope – just a grand daddy long legs; go back to sleep.
6. Aquaman: The seasoned Scout pulls a hat trick by taking Lifesaving, Canoeing, Kayaking, and Small Boat Sailing Merit Badges at summer camp, thus never having to leave the waterfront except for lunch.
5. Rise of the Silver Surfer: The gray-haired Scouter awakes, drinks a cup of coffee, and checks the previous night's sports scores on his phone.
4. Knives Out: Within their respective blood circles, new Scouts learn how to sharpen pocketknives from the Toten Chit Instructor.
3. Where the Wild Things Are: Snug in his shelter during a wilderness survival campout, the Scout sees glowing eyes outside of his lean-to.
2. Iron Man: The senior Scout discovers how much nicer the neckerchief looks folded and pressed.
And lastly:
1. Snow White: Unable to be woken by anyone (to include her seven patrol members) the Scout finally rises to the scent of her one true love – bacon.
Jokes are a way to bring cheer. As Scouts, we make jest in a way that does not pick on anyone or cause offense. This is Scout-worthy humor.
A Scout is Kind. A Scout is Cheerful.
